The U.S. Blind Tennis Association (USBTA) is seeking a passionate and visionary Board President to lead our dynamic nonprofit organization into its next phase of growth. As a critical part of the USBTA leadership team, the Board President will work closely with the Board of Directors, executive staff, and stakeholders to further our mission of empowering individuals who are blind or low-vision through the sport of tennis.

Note: All interested candidates should email a copy of their resume and a cover letter to Application@USBlindTennis.org.

About Us: USBTA is dedicated to providing opportunities for blind and low-vision athletes to participate in tennis, promote wellness, and foster a sense of community and inclusion. We offer resources, advocacy, and programs that support athletes of all levels, from beginners to competitive players, and aim to expand the reach and impact of blind and low vision tennis nationwide.

Position Overview: As the Board President, you will play a crucial leadership role in shaping the future of USBTA. You will oversee the strategic direction of the organization, collaborate with board members, staff, and volunteers, and serve as a key ambassador for the sport of blind tennis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on an organization that transforms lives through sport.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead USBTA’s Board of Directors in guiding the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
    • Facilitate effective board governance and ensure that board members are engaged and accountable.
    • Oversee financial health, fundraising, and resource development efforts to sustain and grow the organization.
    • Act as a spokesperson and advocate for blind tennis, raising awareness and engaging with potential partners, donors, and supporters.
    • Ensure that USBTA programs, policies, and initiatives align with the mission and core values.

    Qualifications:

    • A strong commitment to the mission of the USBTA and to improving the lives of individuals who are blind or low-vision.
    • Proven leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or organizational setting (Board or executive leadership experience a plus).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Fundraising experience and a demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with donors, sponsors, and community leaders.
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial oversight, and strategic planning.
    • Familiarity with adaptive sports and/or blindness-related organizations is a plus, but not required.

Time Commitment: This is a volunteer position. The time commitment will vary depending on the organization's needs, but generally includes monthly board meetings, strategic planning sessions, fundraising events, and occasional travel for key events.

Why Join Us? This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing nonprofit organization that makes a real difference in the lives of blind and low-vision athletes. By joining the U.S. Blind Tennis Association as Board President, you’ll be at the forefront of promoting accessibility, wellness, and inclusion through the transformative power of sport.

How to Apply: Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and a cover letter detailing their interest in the position and relevant experience to USBTA Secretary, Maggi Ostrowski at application@usblindtennis.org.
