Volunteer with wild animals at Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for wildlife!

Volunteers are the backbone of SBWCN. As a volunteer, you will be aiding the team to achieve its mission in both rehabilitating wildlife in the community while educating others on the importance of wildlife species.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and return to the wild native sick, injured, orphaned, or oiled wild birds and small mammals in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, and to educate the public about living in harmony with wildlife.

Volunteers are critical to the ability to care for wildlife. In order to help more than 4,000 animals each year, volunteers are needed 7 days a week, 365 days a year to help our Animal Care department. We have many different tasks at our organization for a volunteer to help with from answering the HELPline, preparing diets, cleaning dishes/laundry/crates, feeding baby birds in the songbird nursery, transporting animals that need a ride to our center for care, and much, much more.

Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network is a compassionate community of people who care deeply about wildlife. It is an incredible experience to be a part of an effort that rescues wildlife, rehabilitates them, and returns them to the wild.

    Open Volunteer Positions Include:

    • Animal Husbandry: helping clean (dishes, crates, laundry, and enclosures), preparing diets, feeding animals, creating enrichment, etc
    • Rescue and Transport Volunteers
    • Answering the HELPline

Please contact us at volunteer@sbwcn.org if you are interested!

    • 08:00 to 12:00 PST
    • 12:00 to 16:00 PST
