Make a Lasting Impact in a Child's Life: Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

Imagine being the one constant presence in a child's life, bringing stability and hope during one of the most challenging times they may face. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Marin County, you’ll join a dedicated team of community volunteers who provide essential, one-on-one support to children in the juvenile court system.

    Why Your Role Matters:

Children in foster care often face multiple disruptions, from changes in living situations to shifts in schools and social workers. CASAs step in to ensure these children’s voices are heard, that their needs are met, and that they have a stable, caring adult to rely on. Through regular meetings with the child, social workers, attorneys, and care providers, CASAs advocate for the child's access to mental health services, educational support, and physical health care, helping to secure a brighter future.

    Your Voice in the Courtroom:

CASAs have a unique opportunity to attend juvenile court hearings, sharing crucial, real-time insights into the child’s life. This role allows you to directly influence decisions that shape the child’s future by ensuring that every choice made is truly in their best interest.

    A Beacon of Emotional Support:

Beyond advocacy, CASAs provide invaluable emotional support, helping young people navigate the impacts of trauma and the isolation that can come with being in the child welfare system. A CASA volunteer can make all the difference by simply being there, offering comfort, and championing their needs.

    Requirements:

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, complete a background check, and complete 36 hours of pre-service training through Marin CASA.

No specific background or experience is necessary-just a commitment to making a positive impact.

    Urgent Need:

We’re actively seeking volunteers who identify as men, people of color, and bilingual Spanish speakers to represent and advocate for the diverse population of children we serve.

Are you ready to change a child’s life? Join us in creating a brighter, more stable future for Marin’s children.
