The World Taste & Smell Association (WTSA) is conducting a national public health survey to better understand the impact of taste and smell loss on daily life, memory, and well-being. This research will shape future programs, resources, and healthcare support for the millions of people affected by sensory disorders.
We’re seeking outgoing, responsible volunteers to help us collect survey responses in person-especially from underrepresented communities including veterans, older adults, and individuals in public spaces.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Approach individuals in parks, cafés, churches, libraries, and community centers
Invite them to take a short (5-7 minute) anonymous survey using their phone or tablet or an official WTSA device. Printed signs, postcards, and QR code cards are available for distribution and use. THIS IS THE SURVEY: https://www.tasteandsmell.org/2024-survey
Briefly explain the purpose and importance of the survey
Ensure consent and accurate entry of answers
Report progress and feedback to the WTSA team weekly
Ideal Candidates:
Friendly, trustworthy, and comfortable talking to strangers
Passionate about health equity, sensory wellness, or public service
Students, veterans, retirees, and community advocates welcome
Bilingual or multilingual volunteers encouraged to apply
What You’ll Gain:
Training and guidance from the WTSA team
Public health field experience and community service hours
A letter of recommendation upon completion
Stipend or travel support available for active contributors
