What is a Soup-er Squad?
A Soup-er Squad is a group of volunteers that makes A LOT of delicious soup to feed guests staying at Nativity House Shelter.
Scope and Scale:
Nativity House Shelter is 167-bed shelter for adult men and women experiencing homelessness. We serve 3-times a day and our kitchen runs on "volunteer power". Nearly all of the food that we serve is supplied either through grocery rescue donations or meal groups that cover specific meals.
Why soup?
Whether it's chicken noodle, chili, tomato or matzo ball- a hot bowl of soup makes everyone feel loved.
The Basics
How to build a Soup-er Squad
Soup teams would be responsible for supplying (donating) the ingredients that they plan to use for cooking, picking their own recipes, cooking, serving and cleaning up.
