    Digital Literacy /'Tech Wizard'

Knowing how to use a computer is a life-changing skill. It opens doors to educational and employment opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach for many students in El Porvenir. Honduras Child Alliance is seeking a “Tech Wizard Intern” to help maintain and enhance our digital resources and support our education programs.

    In this role, you'll:

    • Keep laptops updated, virus-free, and loaded with engaging, curriculum-aligned games and activities.
    • Team-teach digital literacy as part of our professional development program—helping students and interns build essential computer skills.
    • Troubleshoot basic tech issues and assist team members with device-related questions.
    • Help create a learning environment where youth and young adults gain confidence using technology.

Most students in El Porvenir have limited access to computers and Wi-Fi, so your role will have a direct impact on their future educational and career opportunities.

The Tech Wizard should plan to stay 6–12 months and will receive 50% discounted housing.

    Internship Overview:

    • Participate in classrooms to demonstrate tech skills and model how to teach them effectively.
    • Collaborate with the Education Program Manager to assess where technology support and training are most needed.
    • Patiently assist our local team and students in gaining basic computer skills.
    • Maintain all laptops and devices to ensure they are fully functional, updated, and free of bugs or viruses.

    Qualifications

    • Solid understanding of technology and ability to manage and maintain laptops and related devices
    • General instructional skills with patience and the ability to teach basic computer skills
    • Spanish language skills are a plus but not required
    • Comfortable working with diverse groups and adapting teaching methods as needed
    • Available to commit to a minimum stay of 6 months

Desired Hours per Week: 21-30 hours per week

Timeframe: This position is available on a year-round basis.

    ¿Cómo llegar?

You will have an interview with a director to be approved as an on-site volunteer. You will receive full travel instructions and will be provided with full contact info for one of our managers, who will arrange your transport from the airport.

You will have a dedicated HCA contact person as you travel!

Most volunteers arrive in Honduras through Ramon Villeda Morales Airport (SAP) in San Pedro Sula. It's easy to fly in from North America (Delta, United, Avianca, or American) or Europe - Europeans should check Air Europa for a nonstop flight from Madrid!

Before your arrival, you'll connect with one of our in-country managers to coordinate your pickup. That same person will stay in touch with you while you're traveling to ensure everything goes smoothly. Our trusted taxi drivers have been working with HCA for over 8 years and will even take you to the supermarket on your way to the volunteer house so you can pick up groceries to get started.

You'll receive everything you need ahead of time:

    • Detailed arrival instructions
    • Contact information for your managers
    • A photo of your driver
    • The exact meeting point at the airport

We're excited to welcome you to Honduras and help you feel at home from the moment you land!
