ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Lift Up Initiative is seeking a creative, organized, and dependable Event Coordinator to help plan and execute our upcoming fall and winter fundraising events and community drives.
The Lift Up Initiative is a youth-led social impact initiative that organizes service projects and fundraisers benefiting nonprofit organizations and communities regionally, throughout the United States, and internationally.
Upcoming projects include a charity pickleball tournament, fall fundraising campaigns, a Thanksgiving drive, and a Christmas drive.
This unpaid position is ideal for a high school or college student seeking meaningful service hours, leadership experience, and hands-on experience in event planning, fundraising, community outreach, and project management. Adult volunteers are also welcome to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Help develop event plans, schedules, timelines, and task lists
-Coordinate event logistics, materials, supplies, and volunteer assignments
-Research potential venues, community partners, sponsors, and donors
-Assist with asking for sponsorships and outreach to businesses, schools, clubs, and community organizations
-Help create and promote fundraising activities and donation drives
-Coordinate with participating nonprofit organizations and community partners
-Monitor deadlines and provide regular progress updates
-Assist with event setup, execution, and cleanup when available
-Help evaluate each event and identify improvements for future projects
-Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and The Lift Up Initiative’s youth leadership team

-Charity pickleball tournament
-Fall fundraising campaigns supporting regional, national, and international nonprofit organizations
-Thanksgiving and Christmas food and essential-needs drive
-Winter coat/hat/gloves donation drive
-Additional community-service and fundraising projects
IDEAL CANDIDATE
-High school student, college student, or community member interested in service and social impact
-Organized, dependable, creative, and attentive to details
-Interested in event planning, nonprofit work, fundraising, marketing, or project management
-Comfortable communicating with businesses, community organizations, volunteers, and nonprofit partners
-Comfortable cold calling for sponsorships
-Able to manage multiple tasks and meet agreed-upon deadlines
-Able to work independently while communicating regularly with our team
-Previous event-planning or fundraising experience is helpful but not required
TIME COMMITMENT
This is a flexible, project-based volunteer position. We anticipate approximately 3–5 hours per week during active planning periods, with additional availability helpful before and during major events. Scheduling can generally be arranged around school and other commitments.
LOCATION
Some planning responsibilities may be completed remotely. In-person availability in Northern Virginia or the greater Washington, D.C. region is preferred for local events.
