Hospice Volunteer – Patient Support & Administrative Services

Join our hospice team in delivering compassionate end-of-life care while also supporting the behind-the-scenes operations that make that care possible.
This is a dual-role volunteer opportunity designed for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact both directly with patients and through essential administrative support.
Patient Support Responsibilities (Field-Based):
- Provide companionship (conversation, reading, music, presence)
- Offer emotional support to patients and families
- Provide respite for caregivers
- Assist with light, non-medical support
Administrative Support Responsibilities (Office-Based):
- Assist with filing, data entry, and organizing patient records
- Support volunteer coordination, scheduling, and follow-ups
- Help prepare admission packets, educational materials, and mailings
- Participate in quality improvement or compliance support tasks
Qualifications:
- Compassion, reliability, and emotional resilience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA awareness required)
- Comfortable in both patient-facing and office environments
- Completion of hospice volunteer training (provided)
- Background check and TB test required

This role is best suited for individuals who want a well-rounded healthcare experience—especially those pursuing nursing, healthcare administration, or social services. You must be adaptable: some days require emotional presence with patients; others require precision and focus in the office.
