    Description

Hospice Volunteer – Patient Support & Administrative Services

Join our hospice team in delivering compassionate end-of-life care while also supporting the behind-the-scenes operations that make that care possible.

This is a dual-role volunteer opportunity designed for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact both directly with patients and through essential administrative support.

    Patient Support Responsibilities (Field-Based):

    • Provide companionship (conversation, reading, music, presence)
    • Offer emotional support to patients and families
    • Provide respite for caregivers
    • Assist with light, non-medical support

    Administrative Support Responsibilities (Office-Based):

    • Assist with filing, data entry, and organizing patient records
    • Support volunteer coordination, scheduling, and follow-ups
    • Help prepare admission packets, educational materials, and mailings
    • Participate in quality improvement or compliance support tasks

    Qualifications:

    • Compassion, reliability, and emotional resilience
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA awareness required)
    • Comfortable in both patient-facing and office environments
    • Completion of hospice volunteer training (provided)
    • Background check and TB test required

    Ideal Candidate:

This role is best suited for individuals who want a well-rounded healthcare experience—especially those pursuing nursing, healthcare administration, or social services. You must be adaptable: some days require emotional presence with patients; others require precision and focus in the office.

    Impact:

You are not just “helping”—you are supporting both the heart and the system of hospice care.
