Help us find and map churches in South Los Angeles and Compton. This work helps us find churches so we can connect them with more services to support their communities.
What you will do:
- Travel along main streets in assigned areas (primarily by car)
- Look for churches along each street
- Write down church names and addresses
- Record other details you can clearly see
- Turn in your notes after each session
- No door knocking—this is visual work only
Project phases:
- Phase 1: Street-by-street mapping and data collection
- Phase 2: Fun online research to fill in missing church details
What you need:
- Careful attention to detail
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to follow simple directions
- Ability to take clear notes
Helpful (not required):
- Familiar with South Los Angeles or Compton
- Access to a car
- Basic internet skills
Time commitment:
A few hours per month. Flexible days and times.
Location:
On-site in South Los Angeles, Compton, and nearby areas.
Training:
Training is provided. We will show you what to look for and how to record it.
Impact:
You will help build a church database that connects local churches with free services that support people facing homelessness and other urgent community needs.
