Job Position: (Volunteer) Policy Analyst
About Gender Freedom Society:
Gender Freedom Society is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to building an inclusive and supportive community for gender-diverse people. Through education, advocacy and community building, we create spaces where everyone can thrive in their authentic selves.
Role Summary:
As a (Volunteer) Policy Analyst you focus will be on legislation and the effects a passed bill poses on society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on local, national, and international policies affecting the transgender community, including healthcare access, legal rights, employment discrimination, and social services.
- Monitor legislative developments related to transgender rights and work to influence policymakers through advocacy meetings, public hearings, and legislative advocacy strategies.
- Design and implement research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and data analysis
- Maintain and manage databases, literature reviews, and policy tracking systems
- Develop models, forecasts, or scenario analyses to project policy outcomes
- Develop and implement advocacy campaigns to promote transgender rights and raise awareness about issues facing transgender individuals. This may include organizing petitions, letter-writing campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with other organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to build coalitions and support collective advocacy efforts on behalf of the transgender community.
Qualifications:
- Passion for social justice and a commitment to advancing transgender rights and equality.
- Strong understanding of issues affecting the transgender community, including healthcare access, legal rights, employment discrimination, and social stigma.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Experience in advocacy, community organizing, or related fields is preferred but not required.
