    Volunteer Sustainability Course Module Writer (unpaid)

    Do you dream of a future where communities thrive alongside healthy soil, clean air, and fresh water? Are you a gifted writer with a strong understanding of regenerative agriculture, composting, reuse, repair, and other sustainability practices, and eager to share that knowledge with others? By helping communicate these ideas in a clear and accessible way, you can empower your community to take action, support local organizations, and advocate for policies that protect our communities and our planet. If you believe in empowerment through education and hands-on volunteering for all communities, then this is your chance to make a meaningful difference.

    GoGreenLocally Org is a Nevada-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing online U.S. resource hubs to help concerned citizens take grassroots action for sustainability. We connect communities with local resources, events, businesses, and nonprofits while promoting eco-conscious choices and collective action. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to live more sustainably, protect biodiversity, and help reverse climate change.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking volunteer Course Module Writers to help develop content for the Eco-Action Challenge, a national learning program that empowers students, adults, and community teams to build sustainability knowledge and take local action. Writers will work from provided outlines and guidelines to create short, engaging, non-technical educational modules.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop Google Slides modules based on clear learning objectives.
    • Translate sustainability concepts into accessible, engaging content for non-experts.
    • Incorporate real-world examples and case studies.
    • Follow organizational guidelines for consistency in tone, visuals, and structure.
    • Collaborate with the program team to refine content based on feedback.

    Focus Areas

    We are especially seeking volunteers with interest or experience in one or more of the following themes:

    • Reducing Food Waste, Food Rescue, and Composting
    • Reducing Material Waste (Reuse, Repair, Recycling, Upcycling)
    • Land Restoration – Reviving and protecting ecosystems through the restoration of native plants and wildlife, while preserving healthy soil life and biodiversity. This focus also includes eco-design practices that harmonize human activity with natural systems, creating resilient landscapes that support both people and the planet.
    • Environmental Action, Advocacy, & Policy (Non-Political)

    Qualifications

    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Ability to explain concepts simply and clearly for diverse audiences.
    • Interest in sustainability, climate action, education, or related areas.
    • Prior experience with content writing, curriculum design, or communications is helpful but not required.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible, project-based work. Approx. 5-7 hours per week.
    • Remote collaboration with weekly check-ins.
