Support Group Facilitator - Join our mission to empower adults with dysautonomia through compassionate, peer-driven support

    Summary of the Role

WTFisDys is seeking a dedicated and empathetic volunteer Support Group Facilitator. In this role, you'll lead peer support groups that offer a safe space for adults with dysautonomia to share their experiences, exchange coping strategies, and provide mutual encouragement. Your guidance will help cultivate a supportive environment where every member feels heard, understood, and empowered.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate Peer Support Groups: Lead regular meetings for our adult support groups, ensuring discussions are respectful, engaging, and productive.
    • Create a Safe Environment: Foster an inclusive atmosphere where members feel comfortable sharing personal experiences and challenges.
    • Encourage Active Participation: Motivate group members to participate, practice active listening, and support each other through shared insights.
    • Guide Relevant Discussions: Initiate and steer conversations on topics ranging from daily coping strategies to long-term well-being practices.
    • Collaborate with Founders and Moderators: Work closely with the founder and other team members to continuously improve group dynamics and overall program success.
    • Ensure Confidentiality: Uphold a strict standard of privacy and respect for all members’ personal stories and experiences.

    Qualifications

    • Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities—both speaking and listening—are essential to guide group dynamics effectively.
    • Empathy and Insight: A genuine understanding of the challenges associated with dysautonomia or chronic illness. Previous experience in a similar role or support group setting is a plus.
    • Organizational Capability: Reliability and punctuality with the commitment to facilitating regular sessions.
    • Team-Player Mentality: Ability to collaborate with fellow facilitators, share ideas, and contribute to a growing, supportive community.

    Why Join WTFisDys?

    • Make a Meaningful Impact: Your leadership can create a haven for those facing the isolation and challenges of dysautonomia, transforming lives one conversation at a time.
    • Be a Catalyst for Growth: As part of our dedicated community, you’ll play an integral role in supporting our journey toward nonprofit status and expanding our programming.
    • Opportunities for Deeper Involvement: We offer pathways to further involvement within our organization for dedicated volunteers ready to drive broader community impact.
