The Volunteer Engagement and Exchange (VES) Program is an intercultural volunteer exchange initiative based in Tanzania that connects local and international volunteers with meaningful opportunities to serve, learn, collaborate, and contribute to sustainable development across the Global South.

Flexible Volunteer Engagement

The VES Program supports different forms of volunteer participation to accommodate diverse needs and circumstances.

Volunteer engagement may be:

• Individual or group-based
• Local or international
• In-person or virtual
• Short-term or longer-term
• Project-based or skills-based
• Hosted at a volunteer group's location, such as an office, school, community centre, or park
• Hosted at SuBeHuDe or partner organisation locations
• Delivered virtually, enabling volunteers to contribute remotely from anywhere in the world

Private Group Volunteer Opportunities

VES also welcomes private, corporate, school, university, professional, faith-based, and community volunteer groups.

Group size: 1–50+ participants

Groups can participate in customised activities designed around their interests and available time, including community service, environmental restoration, tree planting, sustainable beekeeping, skills-sharing, education, youth engagement, and other community-driven initiatives.

Donations and Support

The VES Program welcomes donations of any size or type to help strengthen volunteer-led community initiatives and expand access to meaningful opportunities.
