    About Black Girl Joy

    Black Girl Joy, Inc. is a Michigan based nonprofit that creates sacred, affirming spaces centered on the rest, wellness, and joy of Black women. Through nature based gatherings, movement, spiritual support, and community connection, we address burnout, isolation, and chronic stress among Black women.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a volunteer Grant Writer to support our fundraising efforts by researching, drafting, and submitting grant applications aligned with our mission. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mission driven work, understands community health or wellness funding, and values clear boundaries and realistic timelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and help maintain our grant master list and application calendar
    • Research new grant opportunities aligned with wellness, community health, outdoor recreation, and health equity
    • Draft grant narratives, program descriptions, and budget justifications using information provided by leadership
    • Assist with completing and submitting grant applications
    • Help track submissions, deadlines, and outcomes

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Experience with grant writing or grant research (nonprofit or community based preferred)
    • Strong writing and organizational skills
    • Familiarity with health, wellness, community development, or equity focused funding is a plus
    • Ability to work independently and meet agreed upon deadlines
    • Respect for mission alignment, confidentiality, and boundaries
