    Position title: Regional Strategic Adviser

    Location: Regional (Remote - APAC Based)

    The Fédération Internationale de la Jeunesse, in English, International Youth Federation (IYF), is an international non-profit youth organization network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is politically neutral and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide.

    The IYF is a global youth network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to empower young people across the world. IYF works in over 50 countries and territories, helping to achieve youth empowerment and improve the status of youth.

    Under direct supervision of the Regional Director, The Regional Strategic Adviser leads the cultivation of sophisticated understanding of the international, regional and national political environments as they engage with the IYF response and activities and maximise opportunities to align the IYF interventions with prevailing political and youth development agendas and promote policy coherence across the Country Teams in line with the IYF corporate agenda.

    To voluntarily represent, positively promote, and uphold the mission of “Empowering youth for a better world” in various programs and opportunities throughout the IYF interventions across member countries.

    Responsibilities

    (A) Providing strategic advice to senior management at regional level:

    • Provide assistance in developing regional strategic plans and monitor changes through our framework to identify opportunities and address challenges facing IYF operations;
    • Lead strategic engagement at, organizational/institutional development, governance and coordination frameworks, partnership, monitoring and resource mobilization;
    • Coordinate strategic recommendations to strengthen development of appropriate policy development at the regional level.

    (B) Support strategic management and coordination at the regional level:

    • Strategically and proactively position the IYF response around critical and emerging policy issues, including by identifying opportunities to locate the IYF in wider youth development agendas as well as by linking the IYF to international and regional development initiatives and partnerships in the region;
    • Provide technical advice to Regional Administration and Country Teams on integrating plans and strategies;
    • In collaboration with International Relations Commission and IYF Partner Network, identify opportunities for partnerships that will influence implementation of IYF programmes at regional level;
    • Promote and facilitate collaboration and development of key national programs.
    • Support Country Teams to allocate local resources to youth programmes, broker partnership and network with various multilateral and bilateral funding agencies to influence allocation of resources to counties;
    • Draft briefing notes, reports and analyses to update the Regional Administration, IYF staff and other internal commissions on developments in cutting-edge IYF issues and programmes; and
    • Serve as regional focal point for strategic planning.

    (C) Coordinate the generation of information through issues mapping and analysis on:

    • Key actors' interests and agendas; and contextual youth developments, including at the regional and international levels, in the wider political and development arena as well as in the youth policy, funding and programming landscapes and communicate this intelligence to the Regional Administration; and
    • Lead on processes to understand and address political blockages to funding and the delivery of evidence-informed youth programmes, as well as to identify political openings and opportunities to further IYF' corporate agenda in support of a stronger national youth response.

    Language

    Advanced English skills are required for this role.

    Location

    Must be based remotely in an APAC country.

    Experience

    Strategy or programmes/programs experience within an NGO, non-profit, INGO (such as the United Nations), government, charity, international development, youth empowerment or similar organisation is essential for this role.
