Hospice Volunteer

At Bridge Hospice, volunteers are the heart of compassionate care. By sharing your time, talents, and kindness, you can bring comfort, connection, and support to patients and families during one of life's most important journeys.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to:

• • Provide companionship through friendly visits, conversation, reading, or simply being present.
  • Run errands and assist with basic everyday tasks that help ease the burden on patients and caregivers.
  • Share special talents and interests, including art, music, crafts, pet therapy, and other creative activities that bring joy and enrichment.
  • Support administrative needs in our office through clerical assistance.
  • Offer bereavement support by helping families navigate grief through compassionate outreach and encouragement.

No medical experience is required, only a caring heart and a desire to serve others. Whether you have a few hours a month or more time to give, your presence can make a lasting impact.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma preferred

Licensure: Must have current driver's license if providing direct patient care. Professional Volunteers must meet requirements of specific licensure rules.

Skills: Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively.

Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance if providing direct patient care.

Criminal History: Must agree to and pass a criminal history check (for direct care volunteers).

Environmental and Working Conditions:

• Patient’s home and/or facility: various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Must have Hepatitis acceptance/declination for patient care volunteers.
• Office: routine office environment, noise level may be moderately high, ability to work a flexible schedule

Physical and Mental Effort:

Prolonged standing and walking required. Occasional need to lift, pull, carry, and push items. Frequent need to stoop, kneel, and reach while accessing files. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, and to make quick decisions to meet patient/family needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
