Pet Therapy Volunteer – Hospice Care

Bring comfort, connection, and compassion to hospice patients through the special bond of a certified therapy animal. Your Health Hospice is seeking caring volunteers and their certified therapy pets to visit patients in private homes, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities throughout our service area.

As a Pet Therapy Volunteer, you and your therapy animal will provide companionship, emotional support, and moments of joy to patients and their families. Visits may include quietly sitting with a patient, offering gentle interaction with your therapy pet, or simply being a calming presence during a meaningful time.

Responsibilities:

• Visit hospice patients with your certified therapy animal.
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support.
• Follow hospice policies and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Coordinate visit schedules with the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Document volunteer visits as required.

Qualifications:

• Certified therapy dog or other therapy animal through a recognized therapy animal organization.
• Friendly, dependable, and compassionate demeanor.
• Ability to work respectfully with patients, families, and hospice staff.
• Complete hospice volunteer orientation, background screening, and any required health documentation.
