Patient visitor:
Share your friendship with patients or family members at a nursing home or private home close to you. We serve entire Northwest Arkansas but will make assignments based on your location. Volunteer training is required and provided. Patient companions are not expected to provide personal care to patients but be a friendly visitor with great listening skills. Volunteers may read to patients, listen, hold a hand, play board games, play soothing music, help with light housekeeping, or warm up a meal.
Social visit times are flexible but usually a volunteer visits their assigned patient once a week. A volunteer can choose to visit one or more patients.
Other volunteer opportunities are:
Caregiver respite provider: Sit with the patient up to 4 hours to provide respite for the Caregiver. Volunteers do not provide personal care to patients but are a watchful eye over the patient while their Caregiver goes grocery shopping, has a Dr. appointment, etc.
Vet-to-Vet volunteer: A veteran of the USA Military to visit and honor our veteran patients.
Music Activity: Play soothing instruments to patients and families in care facilities.
Cosmetologist: This is a volunteer with a current license to provide simple haircuts and nail care to hospice patients.
Integrative therapist: e.g. Reiki, Aroma therapy, massage therapist,
Animal Assisted Activity: Share the love of your licensed therapy pet with hospice patients and family members.
Pampered hands: A non-licensed program to offer warm towel, lotion, and nail polish application to our patients.
Pet Peace of mind: Assist patients with their daily pet care and/or help with fostering/adoption if applicable.
Crafter: Sew, crochet, or knit a variety of needed crafts like adult bibs, lap blankets, shawls, slippers, etc.
