Seeking Legal Expert Advisor (Crime Advocacy & Legal Standards)

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to serve as an advisor to a crime victim advocacy organization and help inform the development of our AI-powered advocacy platform.

The advisor will help our product and development teams understand legal processes, professional standards, and the real-world needs of victims and advocates within the criminal justice system.

In addition to advising on AI workflows, we are seeking a legal expert who can assist with preparing professional opinion letters, standard-of-care reviews, and similar expert analyses when appropriate.

The ideal candidate has experience in:

• Crime victim advocacy
• Victim rights and services
• Criminal justice systems
• Prosecutor offices
• Criminal investigations
• Legal ethics and professional responsibility
• Legal malpractice or professional standards analysis
• Preparing expert opinions, declarations, or professional practice evaluations

Responsibilities may include:

• Advising on legal concepts and workflows that should inform AI development
• Helping define how AI should organize legal information, timelines, communications, and case documentation
• Advising on appropriate boundaries between advocacy, legal advice, investigation, and support services
• Reviewing legal processes and professional conduct against accepted standards of practice
• Preparing written opinion letters regarding professional standards, standard of care, or related legal practice questions
• Helping develop resources that allow advocates and victims to better understand complex legal processes
• Reviewing AI-generated materials for accuracy, appropriate language, and responsible use

Preferred candidates include:

• Former prosecutors
• Victim rights attorneys
• Criminal justice attorneys
• Former judges or court professionals
• Attorneys experienced in expert witness work
• Legal professionals with experience evaluating attorney performance or professional standards

Experience involving homicide, major crimes, violent crime survivors, prosecutor-based victim advocacy programs, or multidisciplinary criminal justice teams is especially valuable.

This is an advisory role focused on bringing legal expertise into the design of responsible AI tools and advocacy resources. The role may include preparing independent professional opinions when qualified and appropriate. It is not a role providing individual legal representation.
