    About Us

The Texas Medical‑Legal Partnership Coalition is a statewide network of practitioners and allied professionals working at the intersection of healthcare, law, and public health. We support and promote medical‑legal partnerships that address health‑harming legal needs—like unsafe housing, barriers to education and employment, and access to benefits—by connecting legal expertise with health care settings.

    Why this role matters

You’ll keep our coalition running smoothly by managing communications, strengthening governance, and improving member engagement so that MLPs across Texas can better serve patients and communities. This role is resume‑building and offers meaningful experience in nonprofit communications, coalition-building, and health‑justice advocacy.

    Commitment & Type

Volunteer, remote-friendly (Texas preferred). Approximately 8–12 hours per month; minimum one-year commitment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update the Coalition website using existing content.
    • Produce and distribute a concise monthly newsletter.
    • Draft and circulate agendas for Board and Executive Committee meetings; attend and support follow-up.
    • Facilitate monthly Practitioner Calls: set agendas, coordinate presenters, and attend sessions.
    • Track select committee meetings and attend as needed.
    • Oversee annual director-election logistics and documentation.
    • Support planning for the annual member meeting.

    What we’re looking for

    • Strong organization and project management skills.
    • Clear, professional written communication and editing.
    • Ability to manage recurring tasks independently with attention to detail.
    • Comfort with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and basic CMS/email tools.

    Nice-to-haves

    • Experience with website/content management (Wix, Squarespace, or similar).
    • Experience producing newsletters or email communications (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
    • Prior nonprofit, board, or committee support experience.
    • Interest in health justice, public health, or legal services.

    What you’ll gain

    • Hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and coalition coordination.
    • Direct exposure to state‑level health‑legal partnerships and policy work.
    • Professional references and a chance to shape an emerging statewide network.
