About Us

Born with almost no control over how or with whom they live their lives, women and girls in Rajasthan, India are finding ways to leap over barriers based on class, caste, and gender through the programs of the grassroots Indian organization Sambhali Trust. Our team at Sambhali U.S. (headquartered in Takoma Park, MD) is proud to support their efforts.

Sambhali U.S. tells the stories of the women and girls in Sambhali’s programs, raises funds for programs run by Sambhali Trust, recruits volunteers to help, and provides technical support.

We fund programs focused on empowerment, education, vocational training, health, and gender-based violence.

About the Role

We are seeking passionate volunteers with accounting or finance experience to join our Finance Committee and play an integral role in ensuring Sambhali U.S. best utilizes our donations in order to maximize the amount that can be used for programing on the ground in Rajasthan, India.

This is an opportunity to use your experience in accounting/finance to directly contribute to the empowerment of women and girls in India.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteers will focus on one or more of the following areas depending on their experience and interests:

• • Tax preparations at year end (annually)
  • QuickBooks transaction recording (monthly)
  • Preparation of financial statements, and presentation (monthly preparation and quarterly presentation)
  • Preparation of budget (yearly)
  • Management of state fundraising registrations (several times throughout the year)

Skills & Qualifications

• • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Background in accounting and/or finance
  • CPA preferred
