About NVPH

The National Violence Prevention Hotline (NVPH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and preventing violence through compassionate support, community resources, and violence prevention initiatives. We work to connect individuals with appropriate resources while expanding public awareness, strengthening community partnerships, and promoting early intervention.

We are seeking motivated volunteers who want to contribute to meaningful violence prevention work while helping a growing nonprofit expand its reach and impact.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers may contribute to one or more areas based on their interests, experience, skills, and organizational needs.

Community Outreach and Partnerships

• Research schools, colleges, nonprofits, community organizations, and potential partner agencies.
• Identify organizations and initiatives aligned with NVPH's mission and develop outreach opportunities.
• Assist with partnership communications, follow-ups, and maintaining relationship records.
• Support school safety initiatives, campus engagement, community education, and other outreach projects.

Communications and Public Education

• Assist with social media content, educational campaigns, and violence prevention awareness initiatives.
• Research current events, public discussions, and educational topics relevant to violence prevention.
• Help develop newsletters, flyers, brochures, resource guides, and other public-facing materials.
• Support media outreach, organizational announcements, and public education projects.

Research and Program Development

• Research violence prevention programs, community resources, and emerging approaches to prevention.
• Help identify opportunities for NVPH to expand its services, reach new audiences, and develop new initiatives.
• Support projects involving school safety, campus violence prevention, corrections outreach, and community engagement.
• Assist with developing educational resources, project plans, and program materials.

Fundraising and Development

• Research grants, family foundations, corporate giving programs, and other potential funding sources.
• Identify prospective donors and funding opportunities that align with NVPH's mission.
• Assist with fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and development research.
• Help prepare grant research materials, letters of inquiry, donor reports, and other development resources under appropriate supervision.

Administrative and Organizational Support

• Assist with organizing records, updating databases, maintaining resource lists, and documenting organizational processes.
• Help develop internal reference materials, templates, and standard operating procedures.
• Support special projects, organizational planning, and initiatives to improve efficiency.
• Contribute to annual reports, organizational publications, and other projects that strengthen NVPH's operations.

Qualifications

Ideal volunteers are dependable, proactive, and interested in contributing to a mission-driven organization. Applicants should demonstrate:

• Strong written communication, research, and organizational skills.
• Professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through on commitments.
• An interest in violence prevention, public service, nonprofit work, community safety, or related fields.
• The ability to work independently in a remote environment and communicate progress appropriately.
• Respect for confidentiality, organizational policies, and professional boundaries.

Relevant work, volunteer, academic, or community experience is welcome. We encourage applications from students, early-career professionals, and individuals seeking to contribute their skills to violence prevention.

Time Commitment and Expectations

Volunteer assignments vary depending on the project, availability, and organizational needs. Volunteers should be prepared to discuss their availability, interests, and realistic time commitment during the onboarding process.

We ask volunteers to communicate consistently with their designated supervisor, meet agreed-upon deadlines, participate in relevant meetings or training, and complete assigned responsibilities reliably. Volunteers may be matched with projects that evolve as organizational priorities develop.

All volunteers must complete applicable onboarding requirements, follow NVPH policies, and maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling organizational information.
