Outreach & Volunteer Pipeline Lead for Legacy Paws Rescue

    Project Overview

Interest in Legacy Paws comes in waves, not a steady stream, through our website, our social media, and word of mouth in the community. But underneath those waves we have plenty of ongoing projects that need people: social media, events, hands-on animal care, admin support, and more. Right now there's no one dedicated to building outreach that keeps volunteers coming in between those waves, or to making sure everyone who does reach out gets triaged, screened, and placed on one of those projects instead of falling through the cracks.

    What You'd Actually Be Doing

    • Own the volunteer pipeline end to end: intake, screening, and placement into the right team (social media, events, hands-on animal care, admin support, and more)
    • Build and run a real triage system so nobody who reaches out sits unanswered, which has cost us good people before
    • Build community outreach relationships: local partnerships, tabling at events, connections with schools and community groups that bring both volunteers and awareness to us
    • Build outreach that smooths out the gaps between bursts of interest, so we're generating volunteers for our open projects instead of just reacting when people happen to find us
    • Coordinate with our other program leads (foster, rehoming, social media, finance and sustainability) to know what each team actually needs, so you're placing people where they'll be useful, not just where they're interested
    • Manage our volunteer application process and keep our volunteer tracker current so we always know who's active, where they're placed, and who needs a follow up
    • Represent Legacy Paws at community events and partnerships as a visible outreach presence

    Why This Matters

People want to help us, when they find us. That's never been the problem. The problem is we've got more projects than hands right now, foster placement, rehoming, social media, admin, events, and no one dedicated to matching the two up. I've had people reach out ready to jump in, and then nothing happens for weeks because there was no one whose job it was to answer them. I've lost good people that way, not because they didn't care, but because nobody got back to them in time or had a project ready to hand them. I need someone whose whole job is closing that gap: bringing in outreach so interest isn't only ever off and on, and making sure everyone who shows up gets matched to real work waiting for them.

    How We've Prepared

    • A makeshift volunteer tracking system is already in place, but it needs refining.
    • A volunteer application exists, but we need an onboarding system to be created
    • Other program leads (foster, rehoming, social media, finance and sustainability) are already in place or being built out, giving you real teams to place people into
    • You'd work directly with our founder to know where the organization's biggest people gaps actually are

    About Legacy Paws Rescue

Legacy Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-2211382) founded in January 2025 by Domenica Robbins, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former psychiatric registered nurse. We're a home sanctuary, not a kennel, for dogs other rescues call too aggressive, too broken, or too much. Our mission: creating a community of kindness where healing happens on both ends of the leash. Learn more at legacypawsrescue.org.
