Help Preserve Local History and Shape the Future of a Community Institution

The Westminster Historical Society is seeking engaged, community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors and help guide the next chapter of the organization.

The Westminster Historical Society works to preserve and share the history of Westminster, California, through its historic buildings, museum collections, archives, photographs, artifacts, research, exhibits, events, and community programming.

We are looking for new Board members who are excited about preserving local history while also helping the organization grow, strengthen its community connections, and plan for the future.

What Board Members Do

Board members provide governance, leadership, and support to the Westminster Historical Society. Depending on their interests and experience, Board members may help with:

• Organizational planning and governance
• Community outreach and partnerships
• Membership development
• Fundraising and donor engagement
• Events and educational programming
• Communications and social media
• Historic preservation and collections
• Volunteer engagement
• Financial oversight
• Building awareness of the Society throughout the community

Who We’re Looking For

You do not need to be a historian or historic preservation expert to serve on our Board.

We welcome people from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds who care about Westminster, Orange County, local history, community building, museums, education, preservation, or nonprofit service.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring experience or connections in areas such as:

• Community engagement
• Nonprofit leadership or governance
• Fundraising and development
• Marketing, communications, or social media
• Education
• Events and programming
• Business and finance
• Historic preservation, museums, archives, or local history

Most importantly, we are looking for Board members who are collaborative, dependable, curious, and enthusiastic about contributing to the future of the Westminster Historical Society.
