    About the Role

Indiana Medicaid Help, Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to expanding administrative advocacy, open-access tools, and direct support for individuals navigating healthcare access and public benefit rules.

A central pillar of our mission is removing barriers to participation. We understand that in rural communities—particularly across Appalachian Kentucky—reliable public transit is scarce, distances to municipal hubs are vast, and local volunteer or employment options can be limited. If you are home bound, managing family care giving responsibilities, lacking transportation, or seeking flexible volunteer hours to satisfy community engagement or benefit requirements, this role was built to be fully accessible from home on your own schedule.

We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer & Researcher to help identify, organize, and draft funding proposals that sustain our community technology and direct-advocacy services.

    Instrucciones:

    What You Will Do

    • Identify Funding Opportunities: Research regional, community, and national foundation grants aligned with rural health access, public benefits navigation, and digital civic tools.
    • Draft Proposals & Letters of Intent: Write and organize grant narratives, summaries, and Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) with direct guidance and templates from our director.
    • Maintain Grant Tracking: Log application deadlines, requirements, and submission statuses using shared online spreadsheets/tools.
    • Collaborate Remotely: Communicate asynchronously via email or brief check-ins to review priorities and progress.

What We Provide You (Our Commitment)

Volunteering should be a mutually beneficial partnership. In exchange for your time and dedication, we provide:

    1. Certified Monthly Service Documentation: At the end of every calendar month, you receive an official, signed 501(c)(3) certificate verifying your exact dates, completed hours, and project milestones—suitable for Medicaid compliance records, academic requirements, or professional portfolios.
    2. Monthly Workforce & Tech Upskilling Workshops: We host monthly hands-on training sessions for our volunteers covering:
      • Practical AI Usage: How to use generative tools for research, drafting, and workflow automation.
      • Digital Marketing Fundamentals: SEO basics, online outreach, and digital communications.
      • Programming & Automation with AI: Intro-level coding and automation logic designed to build modern, market-ready technical literacy.
    3. Professional References: Direct verification of your contribution, grant portfolio pieces, and reference letters for future employment applications.

    Qualifications

    • Clear written communication skills and an interest in nonprofit storytelling.
    • Familiarity with web browsing, document editors (Google Docs, Microsoft Word), and email.
    • Reliable internet access and a computer/tablet to complete work remotely.
    • Prior experience with grant writing or formal business writing is welcome, but not required—we provide templates, clear instructions, and collaborative feedback.
    • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently at your own pace.
