Programme Timeline:

Start Date: Third week of July 2026

End Date: Third week of November 2026

Commitment: 16 weeks for 4 hours a week. 2 hours teaching, 2 hours preparation

We are currently recruiting volunteer Online English Instructors for Semester 7, which will begin in the third week of July and run for 16 weeks.

No previous teaching experience is required, although experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or TEFL is extremely valuable. We are primarily looking for reliable, positive, and committed individuals who genuinely want to support Afghan girls and women through education.

The volunteer commitment is approximately four hours per week: two hours of direct teaching and approximately two additional hours for lesson preparation, coordination, or marking homework. Volunteers teach two 1 hour lessons per week.

We currently have 88 volunteer teachers from 24 different countries. Volunteers can choose to teach either Reading and Writing classes or Speaking and Listening classes.

Volunteer instructors will teach online classes of approximately 12 students through Google Meet. We provide the curriculum, lesson materials, and homework tasks. Students complete coursework and end of semester exams in order to progress onto the next English level. We currently offer six levels of English, ranging from beginner classes through to advanced level students.

The long term goal of the programme is to help students develop the English proficiency and confidence required to progress onto our Mentorship Programme, where students can prepare for online higher education opportunities, international scholarships, remote internships, and online work opportunities.

All volunteers will take part in a short interview process before joining the programme. Successful applicants will also complete safeguarding training and onboarding before the semester begins, as safeguarding and student wellbeing are matters we take extremely seriously within our organisation.
