We are committed to a bottom-up movement that prioritizes the needs of the communities we represent and seeks to reclaim our future by advocating for social, economic, environmental, and other kinds of political reform.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Civic Campaign Direction Strategist reports to the Director and Deputy Director of Civic Engagement and will work alongside the Policy and Communications teams. The Civic Campaign Direction Strategist oversees candidate endorsements and researches strategic focus areas to expand Beyond the Ballot’s national Civic Engagement Campaigns. In this role, the Strategist assists with research, interviews, and endorsement of candidates aligned with Beyond the Ballot’s legislative priorities. The Civic Campaign Direction Strategist will assist in executing a bold, youth-driven endorsement strategy that prompts voter participation nationwide through endorsing progressive political candidates on the local, state, and federal levels. This role is central to building long-term political power among Gen Z and turning civic engagement into real-world impact. Due to the remote nature of work at Beyond the Ballot, this position can be performed in different time zones than the organization’s central branch.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:

    High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school preferred

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Prior work in the non-profit or political sector is highly preferred.

    • Experience in managing and mentoring staff, collaborating with different departments, and fostering a positive work culture.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Determine strategic focus areas for national civic campaigns, initiatives, and public engagement drives in alignment with the legislative priorities of Beyond the Ballot

    • Maintain Beyond the Ballot’s endorsement processing database

    • Conduct research regarding potential endorsements

    • Interview endorsement requests with consideration for the legislative priorities of Beyond the Ballot

    • Develop, maintain, and enforce the organization's endorsement policy, procedures, and processes in accordance with the Bylaws and applicable policies.

    • Collaborate with the Policy and Communications team to process announcements of candidate endorsements

    • Provide regular updates and support the professional development and positive collaboration with team members.

    • Regularly communicate with both department directors to coordinate engagement efforts.

    • Utilize strong strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.

    • Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.

    Remote Work Requirements: Regular access to a stable internet connection is required.

    Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. May require travel to multiple states.
