The African American Art and Culture Complex (AAACC) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our programs and exhibitions from December through February. AAACC is a community-focused arts and cultural center in San Francisco’s historic Fillmore District. We celebrate and uplift Black art, creativity, and community through exhibitions, workshops, events, and cultural programming for all ages.
We have several volunteer opportunities available this winter. Volunteers may sign up for one role or all three roles, depending on their interests.
Volunteer Roles
Welcome Desk Volunteers serve as the first point of contact for all visitors. You will help set the tone for a warm, welcoming, and culturally rich experience at AAACC.
Responsibilities include:
Arts Programming Support Volunteers help bring to life AAACC’s most joyful winter programs, including our annual Wakanda Winter Wonderland and other seasonal events. You will play an important behind the scenes role and help ensure guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Gallery Guides are our storytellers and ambassadors. In this role you will help visitors connect with the art, history, and creativity that fill AAACC’s halls.

All volunteers will receive an orientation and talking points so they feel comfortable guiding visitors.
Shifts
Volunteer shifts are two to four hours, with opportunities available on weekdays and weekends. Volunteers may choose the shifts that work best for their schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will receive hands-on experience in an arts and cultural environment, along with AAACC swag as a thank you for supporting our community.
