About ETIV
Founded in 2015 in Itacaré, Bahia, ETIV (Educate, Transform, Integrate, Value) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable development, education, and environmental conservation. Its work focuses on youth development, community integration, and the strengthening of core values such as empathy, respect, honesty, generosity, and care.
Over the past decade, ETIV has consolidated an innovative model of volunteering and cultural exchange, enabling people from around the world to contribute to English education and environmental initiatives while gaining practical experience in teaching, conservation, and community-based development. During this period, the organization has expanded its portfolio to more than 20 educational, cultural, and technological projects, creating meaningful opportunities for personal growth and social inclusion. In 2025, ETIV was officially recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture as a Ponto de Cultura, reaffirming its long-term commitment to education, cultural integration, and community empowerment. Through its actions, ETIV seeks to nurture socially and environmentally responsible citizens, promoting equality, participation, and access to opportunities for all.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning, preparing, and delivering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for children, youth, and/or adults at different proficiency levels
- Assisting with curriculum development, lesson planning, and the adaptation of teaching materials to meet learners’ needs
- Monitoring, documenting, and reporting student progress and learning outcomes
- Supporting and co-facilitating educational and skill-building initiatives, including computer literacy, environmental education, arts classes, chess club, book club, and other community programs
- Building strong relationships with community members to better understand local educational needs and support inclusive learning environments
- Participating in community-based initiatives such as environmental education activities, beach clean-ups, and reforestation programs
- Contributing to the general upkeep of the facilities and to the overall effectiveness and success of the organization
Time commitment: 20 hours per week
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience teaching English as a Second Language or working in an educational setting
- Strong interest in social justice, community development, and inclusive education
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds
- Interest in environmental conservation and community-based initiatives
- Basic Portuguese is desirable
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Personal laptop required
