Hospice Volunteers Needed with Lily Home and Hospice

Lily Home & Hospice is a family owned, Wisconsin based hospice service located in the Western Wisconsin and South Eastern Wisconsin areas.

Working side-by-side with the hospice team, Lily Home & Hospice volunteers support and enhance the services that we provide to the patients in our care. We take pride in connecting our volunteers’ ability and experiences to areas that best serve our patients and their families. No matter the type of support provided, the Lily Hospice Volunteer Program can gives patients and their families a more individualized hospice experience.

The importance of hospice volunteers should never be overlooked because they can be so much more beneficial to hospice care. They assist patients in multiple ways that not every hospice professional can do on their own.

Positions open: Companionship, Administration, Pet Therapy (with licensed/insured animal), Veterans Support

Position Description: Provide companionship and support to hospice patients and/or their loved ones in their home. Home may be in a private residence, assisted living or skilled nursing center. Volunteers will work in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team to support the needs of the patient/family.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Provides support for the patient/family/loved ones under the direction and supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator/Manager, RN Case Manager, Social Worker and/or Spiritual Coordinator.
2. Participates in relevant educational activities to provide competent support to patients/family and to promote professional growth.
3. Supports the agency's mission, philosophy, programs and activities.

Qualifications:

1. Comfortable with the death and dying process.
2. Complete application, training and onboarding requirements.
3. Ability to communicate well with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
4. Able to respect confidentiality at all times.
5. Able to work independently.
6. Must be at least 18 years of age (or 16/17 years of age with parental permission).

Physical Requirements:

1. Light to medium lifting, bending, stooping, and reaching may be requested.
2. May spend long periods of time sitting or standing.
3. Volunteers should advise the Volunteer Coordinator/Manager if unable to perform these duties.
