EduSoccer Head Coach
- TYPE: Hourly (6+hrs/week)
- ENTITY: Safe-Hub Philadelphia
- LOCATION: Scanlon Playground, Kensington
- COMPENSATION: Volunteer and paid positions available ($22/hour)
- BENEFITS: Socials & Events, Coach Swag, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and other training access
- MANDATORY TRAINING: Saturday April 4th, 2024 (ALL)
Coaching Schedules:
EduSoccer FootSkills FC: Mondays & Wednesdays: 4:45pm - 7:30pm (Additional game days TBD)
EduSoccer Recreational: Tuesdays & Thursdays: 3:30pm - 5:15pm OR 5:15pm - 7:30pm
EduSoccer Fundamentals: Tuesdays 3:30pm - 5:15pm OR Saturdays, 9:15 am - 12:15pm
Safe-Hub Family Appreciation Day: Saturday, June 6th, 2026
Coach social: TBD

THE ORGANIZATION
Safe-Hub's mission is to create safe spaces that combine the power of sport and education to empower youth and change lives through its EduSoccer program.
Safe-Hub established its first US operation in North Philly. Since launching in August 2020, the Safe-Hub team has worked with over 1000 young people from Philadelphia’s most resource-constrained neighborhoods. Through local partnerships, community engagement, and high-quality soccer-based youth development and career readiness program implementation, Safe-Hub is revitalizing North Philly’s public spaces, bringing together the diverse community of Kensington through sport and collaborative initiatives.
JOB SCOPE
Safe-Hub is looking for individuals to help coach young people (ages 4-18) in soccer and social-emotional learning. As a Safe-Hub soccer coach, you will learn industry-leading approaches to youth development, give back to your community as a role model for young people, and join the global Safe-Hub movement to empower the next generation of leaders!
Safe-Hub will provide classroom and on-field training in our positive youth development methodology and ongoing support throughout the season to set you up for success. Join our incredible community of passionate individuals making a difference every day!
Qualifications:
- A passion for coaching and developing grassroots-level players;
- Strong communication skills and ability to instruct;
- Access to reliable transportation;
- Willingness to attend coach training, learn directly from the program team, and have a growth mindset;
- Background checks required (PA Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI History Check);
- Experience working with young people and in team sports (preferred);
- On-field - played and/or coaching experience (preferred).
Responsibility:
- Lead training sessions at Scanlon Playground twice a week in collaboration with assistant coaches;
- Facilitate assigned practice plans;
- Coach during two weekday evenings between 4:30pm & 7:15 pm (depending on the group);
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner as a representative of Safe-Hub culture and values;
- Monitor and report participant attendance to Safe-Hub staff;
- Set up and break down field and team equipment
- Build strong relationships with players and model healthy co-coaching with assistant coaches
- Assist Safe-Hub staff with try-outs (FootSkills only) and competitions
