Human Rights Committee seeking • Attorney, paralegal or law student
“The general responsibility of the committee shall be to assist the provider to affirm, promote, and protect the human and civil rights of individuals served and to monitor and review the activities of the provider or agency with regard to the human and civil rights of those individuals…”
Our Human Rights Committee meets once a quarter to review the following:
Committee Duties
- To monitor and review the use of all restraints
- To monitor and review all limitations of movement/privacy or access on the individuals including health related protections, supportive devices to achieve proper body alignment, and any other proposed devices or procedures which limit a person’s movement, their privacy, or their full access to home and community
- To monitor the conduct of any research at the program
- To monitor and review the manner in which the provider has informed individuals, guardians, family members, and staff of how the individuals’ can exercise their human rights
- To review the policies and procedures of the provider agency for compliance with DDS human rights regulations.
- Make recommendations to the provider agency regarding improvements which could be made to their policies and procedures regarding human rights
- To review all investigations
- To review all human rights grievances, complaints or concerns
- To visit the locations where services are provided
