Hospice of Florida is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide companionship and support to hospice patients and their families throughout Northeast Florida.
Hospice volunteers make a meaningful difference simply by being present. Depending on the needs of the patient and your comfort level, volunteer activities may include:
- Spending time and visiting with patients
- Providing conversation and companionship
- Reading, playing games, or participating in activities with patients
- Offering a comforting presence and emotional support
- Providing caregiver respite through companionship visits
- Supporting patients and families during an important stage of life
No medical experience is required. Volunteers do not provide hands-on medical or nursing care. Training and support are provided to help you feel comfortable and prepared for your role.
We are currently seeking volunteers 18 years of age or older throughout Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, Clay, and Baker Counties. Scheduling is flexible and can be based around your availability and the needs of patients in your area.
Volunteers complete an onboarding and training process before being matched with a patient. Requirements include a background screening, health screening/TB testing, required training, references, and applicable documentation.
Whether you are a college student looking to serve your community, a retiree hoping to give back, or simply someone with a heart for supporting others, we would love to connect with you.

Volunteer visits take place throughout the Jacksonville area based on patient needs and volunteer availability. Volunteers may visit patients in their homes, assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, or other care settings. Specific locations and visit details will be coordinated with each volunteer after onboarding and training.
