    About Us

    The Niles Foundation (TNF) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit advancing food access, environmental justice, clean mobility, climate resilience, and community economic opportunity.

    Through initiatives such as the Halo Food Project, EvCLEAN15, Yard2Farm, The Halo Table, and Rural Resilience Campus, TNF works alongside communities to create innovative solutions that improve quality of life and expand opportunity.

    Help Us

    The Niles Foundation is seeking a passionate storyteller, aspiring journalist, writer, or communications professional to help document the people, partnerships, programs, and impact driving our work across Los Angeles and beyond.

    Through interviews, event coverage, feature articles, and community storytelling, you'll contribute to The Halo Table, TNF's growing media platform dedicated to elevating voices, sharing solutions, and celebrating community impact.

    About the Opportunity

    The Community Storytelling & Journalism Fellow/Intern will help document the people, partnerships, programs, and impact that drive TNF's work.

    This is an opportunity for aspiring journalists, writers, communications professionals, storytellers, photographers, and community advocates to gain hands-on experience while contributing to The Halo Table, TNF's growing media and storytelling platform.

    You'll help uncover stories that inspire action, elevate community voices, and showcase solutions that are making a difference.

    What You'll Do

    Story Development & Journalism

    • Research and write articles for The Halo Table
    • Conduct interviews with community members, volunteers, partners, and program participants
    • Develop impact stories highlighting TNF initiatives and outcomes
    • Create partner spotlights and feature stories
    • Assist with drafting press releases and media materials
    • Contribute article ideas and content for future issues

    Event & Community Coverage

    • Attend select TNF events, workshops, and community gatherings
    • Interview attendees and stakeholders
    • Capture stories, quotes, testimonials, and community perspectives
    • Help document special announcements, celebrations, program launches, and milestones

    Content & Story Archive Development

    • Help build a library of impact stories, photos, testimonials, and interviews
    • Support content gathering for grants, reports, newsletters, and community outreach
    • Identify opportunities to elevate community voices and success stories

    Who We're Looking For

    We welcome applications from:

    • Students seeking internship experience or academic credit
    • Recent graduates building a portfolio
    • Emerging journalists and storytellers
    • Career changers interested in nonprofit communications
    • Community members passionate about social impact

    Ideal candidates are:

    • Strong writers and communicators
    • Naturally curious and comfortable conducting interviews
    • Passionate about community engagement and social impact
    • Organized and able to work independently
    • Interested in journalism, media, communications, storytelling, public relations, nonprofit work, food systems, environmental justice, climate resilience, or community development
    • Photography, video, social media, and multimedia experience are a plus, but not a deal breaker.
    • California or Los Angeles locals and natives.
