The United Way National Capital Area Emerging Leaders Society began in 2009 and is comprised of a group of passionate, community-focused, up-and-coming professionals, who want to connect with like-minded men and women, to get involved in the community, volunteer, grow professionally, network and gain skills that will help them become community leaders throughout the Washington Metro area. Our Emerging Leaders Society inspires, educates and empowers others to bring about meaningful change.

We make volunteering easy. a year so you can choose the one that's right for you. With events throughout the National Capital Area, in the evening and on the weekends our volunteer events work with your schedule. Whether it's preparing meals at a homeless shelter, participating in a Habitat for Humanity build, or participating in our Shoebox Project - Emerging Leaders helps you explore and discover your passion.

Leadership Development – Emerging Leaders hosts four Leadership Breakfast events throughout the year. These breakfasts present exclusive opportunities for members of United Way Emerging Leaders to engage with established community leaders. Join us to hear from executives from around the region as they share their views on leadership and the importance of community involvement.

The Emerging Leaders program is powered by a council of professionals who want to make a difference while developing their professional skills and growing their network. Whether it's helping to plan and lead volunteer events or developing our upcoming board internship program, the Emerging Leaders Council lets you put your skills and passion to work to make a difference in our community.
