Resilient Futures International (RFI) is an international, community-driven NGO dedicated to building the capacity and resilience of individuals, communities, businesses, and government agencies through integrated systems design, community development, long-termpartner engagement, education, and research. RFI defines resilience in three components:
Community Resilience – a community’s ability to sustainably utilize available resources to meet basic needs and respond to, withstand, and recover from internal and external changes in a dynamic, cohesive, and equitable manner
Ecological Resilience – the capacity of a local ecosystem to maintain desired ecosystem services by allocating resources efficiently, and preserving and restoring biodiversity
Economic Resilience – the ability of a local economy to adapt to change, provide long-term security to residents, and recognize social and ecological limits
