Description

Who We're Looking For

DevCollaborative is seeking a Technical Project Manager who has experience working in an agency setting, is technically proficient (sitebuilder capabilities, coding knowledge welcome but not required) in either Drupal or WordPress website development, and is based in the United States.

We are looking for someone who cares about clear communication, meeting deadlines, and working within budgets. You should be able to maintain a project’s big-picture vision while also attending to its details. You have enthusiasm for the web, for providing workers in nonprofit organizations with excellent service, and for all the exciting and less-exciting PM processes that make nonprofit web projects successful.

The right match for this role will be someone who appreciates working collaboratively on a team with content strategists, designers, developers, other project managers, project owners, and clients. You should enjoy, and excel at, multitasking. We expect you to have experience creating project plans, prioritizing project tasks, leading meetings, working in a project management tool (we use Asana and Instagantt), and performing  project-level accounting tasks (we use Harvest and Excel/Google Sheets). You should be familiar with balancing the elements of the PM triangle and helping clients prioritize within these constraints. Finally, you need to be able to manage yourself in a 100% remote work environment and excel at communicating with other team members and clients.

About Us

DevCollaborative is a remote, distributed team of web technology experts who build websites exclusively for nonprofit organizations in Drupal and WordPress. We are an intentionally small team of employees and contractors based in the US in MA, NH, ME, IL, WI, CO, and CA. Only candidates authorized to work in the US are invited to apply.

Our work focuses on the accessibility and sustainability of content, design, and code. We have clients on both coasts doing progressive, innovative work to make things better. We aim to build them clear, usable, long-lasting, inclusive websites that help them accomplish important work.

We approach technical challenges with our whole brains, using our experience to solve problems with the client’s big picture in mind. Does this sound like you, too?

What We Offer You

  • The opportunity to work on meaningful projects that have a positive social impact.
  • The flexibility of a remote team; you can work from anywhere in the US.
  • A 30-to 35-hour work week (your choice), with flexibility where you need it.
  • Annual salary: $60,000-$85,000, based on experience and desired length of work week.
  • A generous time off policy, including 1 week of sick time, 2 weeks of vacation time, and 2+ weeks of holidays annually. Vacation time increases with tenure.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Please note that we do not offer health insurance benefits at this time.
  • On-the-job mentoring - we’ll help you find your footing and keep helping you along the way.
  • A culture that prioritizes the kinds of healthy boundaries needed to balance work and non-work lives.
  • Support from the team when you need it - we don’t work in silos, and neither will you.

The Work You’d Do

In a typical week, your work might include:

  • On WordPress and Drupal development projects:
  • Serve as the main internal and external, client-facing contact throughout a project’s lifecycle.
  • Work with the project team to define requirements, translate them into technical features, and help stakeholders prioritize functionality to be developed.
  • Manage projects to their agreed-upon scope, budget, and schedule based on understanding the SOW.
  • Set project priorities, organize tasks, and keep the project and team moving forward.
  • For staff on your projects, review weekly time entries and weekly summary status reports. Evaluate progress against budget, schedule, and capacity. Make recommendations for upcoming resource needs and flag risks.
  • Produce scopes of work, project plans, meeting agendas, meeting notes, testing plans, launch plans, and other relevant documentation.
  • Help test websites and manage client feedback during the testing phase.
  • Manage Helpdesk:
  • Monitor incoming Helpdesk requests and help assess the scope of each task.
  • Triage the work with our team, test the development, coordinate on launch.
  • Follow up with clients as needed with questions, status,  and testing instructions.
  • Regularly  review and assess the status of Helpdesk tickets and make sure progress is being made across the board.
  • Evaluate bugs and provide first level troubleshooting. An understanding of CMS workflows, backend / frontend development techniques, and content editing will be helpful for this.
  • QA - test fixes and new functionality before sending them to the client for approval.
  • Actively contribute to improving our internal processes as needed.

In addition, there may be secondary and other related activities and responsibilities that will emerge in the course of employment that support the development of DevCollaborative. Examples include: supporting sales proposals, marketing efforts, contracting, and internalprocess improvements.

  • The ability to be self-directed: to work independently and within a virtual team and consistently manage your own time and tasks .
  • A desire for a healthy work/life balance: we plan for a  30- or 35-hour work week, based on your preference.
