Role Summary

As we expand our operations, we are seeking a few seasoned Workshop Facilitators to lead our wellness programs at educational institutions on the West Coast. This part-time position is ideal for individuals with a flexible schedule who are passionate about delivering in-person experiences at the intersection of art and mental health. Selected candidates will be fully trained in our curriculum to ensure they are well-prepared to deliver transformative impact at the schools and organizations we partner with.

Who Are You?

We value diversity in experiences, abilities, and professional backgrounds and do not seek a homogeneous or fixed set of traits in candidates. However, as a Sonic Connections Workshop Facilitator, it is likely you:

  • Have a profound connection to music and the arts that enables you to be creative and inspire others.
  • Are a passionate self-development + mental health advocate eager to help others navigate their own internal thoughts and feelings.
  • View psychological challenges as opportunities for learning and growth, rather than deficiencies or deficits in need of “fixing.”
  • Possess charisma, compassion, and a knack for eloquently communicating complex ideas.
  • Feel energized presenting in front of diverse groups of people in public settings.
  • Are excited by the idea of frequent travel and managing a flexible schedule.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Facilitating workshops that integrate music and mindfulness to support people’s mental health and personal growth.
  • Adapting a preset curriculum to the unique needs of each audience, emphasizing inclusivity and addressing specific challenges that arise within different communities.
  • Briefly engaging with partners on video calls before and after workshops to ensure program delivery aligns with client expectations and has a human touch.
  • Regularly traveling (1-5x / month) across California and neighboring states to lead our workshops.
  • Developing skills and workshop content through ongoing professional development with the team, refining facilitation best practices and ideating program changes based on participant feedback.

Required Skills and Professional Experience

  • Facilitation background demonstrating expertise in public speaking and/or leading group workshops in diverse settings around sensitive topics.
  • Connection to the arts with a notable personal or professional interest in music. (Technical musical proficiency is not required, as our programs do not involve creating or performing live music.)
  • Travel and schedule flexibility: Ability to travel often and manage a non-standard work schedule alongside other professional commitments.
  • Transportation: Possession of a current driver's license and access to a vehicle or the means to acquire one (e.g., renting).
  • Must be based in California, as the role involves regional travel.

How to Stand Out

  • Knowledge in mindfulness and/or the core processes embedded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Relevant well-being certifications or credentials, such as a licensed clinician, Certified Peer Specialist, Health or Wellness Coach, Mental Health First Aid instructor, MBSR, MBCT, Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher, etc.
  • Spanish language proficiency at any level.

Compensation

This role is offered on a part-time, contractual basis and has flexible scheduling options regarding when workshops are booked.

The current remuneration structure for facilitators is as follows:

  • Workshop pay: $400 per workshop + extra per diem for overnight trips.
  • Hourly rate for training, preparation, and follow-up: $25 per hour.
  • Travel expenses: Full coverage of travel costs, including accommodation and meals.
