Oakland International High School is a public high school in Oakland, California that serves 100% refugee & immigrant students. We are dedicated to supporting our multilingual learners to not only acquire the English Language but to also further their academic skills and the tools they need to graduate high school and achieve future success in college and career. We also understand how challenging this may be if we also do not provide and support the wraparound needs of our students and families as they transition into their new U.S. schools and homes.
We are a dynamic, diverse organization dedicated to educational equity, social justice, and immigrant rights. In partnership with Safe Passages, we are seeking SIX AmeriCorps positions to join our dedicated team of professionals for an 11 month-long term, supporting our literacy, tutoring, and other student support needs.
Goal: To provide academic support, mentoring and tutoring OIHS’s newly-arrived immigrant students, supplementing support during school hours and after school
