Description

We are inviting you to apply for the role of Community Outreach Specialist within the Youth Services Division of the City of Gresham. This position offers an opportunity for a dedicated individual who is deeply committed to making a significant impact in the community through effective outreach initiatives.


This grant funded position will serve in a limited term capacity through June 30, 2025. Continuation of this position is contingent on grant funding which will be determined before the fiscal year end in June.  


What you will get to do: 

• Monitors "hotspots" for crime within community areas in person and online

• Build community credibility and connections with at risk youth

• Intensive case management

• Connects at risk youth and family to CBO resources and available services/navigation assistance

• Documents case information, collects, tracks and reports data and program performance

• Collaborates across community networks to share information and gain knowledge related to youth violence

• Develop and implement community outreach programs.

• Foster and maintain relationships with community partners.

• Plan and execute events to raise awareness of services offered.

• Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness.

• Develop and distribute promotional materials.

• Participate in community meetings and presentations.

• Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.

• Provide support to outreach team members.


Qualities we are looking for:  

• Insight into Community Challenges: Demonstrates a profound understanding of the obstacles faced by youth and families in underserved areas, along with a comprehensive knowledge of available support mechanisms.

• Experience in Outreach and Engagement: Has a documented history of designing and executing successful outreach programs and engaging effectively with the community.

• Exceptional Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Exhibits outstanding abilities in communication and relationship-building across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including community organizations, local enterprises, and government bodies.

• Adaptability and Team Collaboration: Shows a strong capacity to work both autonomously and within team settings, effectively prioritizing and managing tasks to meet critical deadlines in dynamic environments.

• Organizational and Time Management Ability: Possesses excellent organizational skills, ensuring accurate record-keeping and thorough reporting on outreach endeavors.

• Cultural Competence and Sensitivity: Demonstrates an ability to engage respectfully and effectively with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, reflecting a deep commitment to inclusivity.

• Dedication to Community Service: Holds a genuine passion for community outreach, driven by a desire to make a visible difference in the lives of young individuals and families within the city.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's Degree 

• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in community outreach, working with youth, community development or services, building relationships with diverse or underserved communities, or related work.

Any combination of qualifying education, training, and/or experience equivalent to three (3) - six (6) years is qualifying.  


Additional Qualifications

• Valid driver license

• Good driving record (based on the driving matrix below)
