After School Game Changer, Western Cape Government

For its second term of office the Western Cape Provincial Cabinet selected a few high level priority areas called Game Changers. Game Changers are defined as bold, focused priority interventions, designed to unlock visible, innovative solutions to intractable problems and new opportunities.

The After School Game Changer is focused on expanding quality, comprehensive after school activities to 112, 000 learners in low- and no-fee school across the province over the next 3 years.

We aim to do this by focusing on three key ‘levers’, namely: create an enabling environment, build quality programmes, and strengthen new and existing partnerships and collaborations. Each lever has a number of sub-focus areas which all contribute towards building a more professionalised, coordinated, and connected after school sector.
