Description

A fully remote nonprofit is seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will perform all day-to-day accounting functions for the organization under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, efficient worker, and team player. The role is fully remote. The position will require minimal domestic travel, 1-2 trips per year. Occasional night and weekend work may be required for this role. What You'll Do:

  • Record all bills in NetSuite.
  • Record ACH, wire, and check payments received against invoices and otherwise.
  • Record and reconcile credit card payments processed through Square, Stripe, and Swoogo.
  • Work with Finance & Operations Manager on collections efforts.
  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and classes for proper coding.
  • Process posting of monthly journal entries.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, deferred revenue, and bank and credit card accounts.
  • Analyze and reconcile discrepancies and accounting issues, as identified.
  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers for consistent bookkeeping and budgetary analysis.
  • Work with Director of People & Culture to ensure compliance with state payroll requirements.
  • Closely follow, and document financial processes adherence to, internal controls.
  • Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with auditors and tax preparers to timely provide requested information.
  • Assist CFO in preparation of annual budget.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies provided by technologies that leverage artificial intelligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a nonprofit accounting role.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite Accounting Software and Revenue Recognition add-on strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and non-profit best practices, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of people.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, confidence to question existing processes and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating audit activities.
  • A track record in grant management as it relates to compliance and reporting.
  • Ability to handle information confidentially.
  • Effective communication, both in oral and written forms.
  • Professional composure and the ability to perform in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • Experience working in Salesforce.
  • Experience and comfort using AI, professionally or personally.
  • Interest in, passion for, and commitment to core mission.
  • Willingness to contribute observations and ideas and deliver foresight about how to best fill gaps and solve problems.
  • A personable and professional demeanor, with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with employees and consultants.
