A fully remote nonprofit is seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will perform all day-to-day accounting functions for the organization under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, efficient worker, and team player. The role is fully remote. The position will require minimal domestic travel, 1-2 trips per year. Occasional night and weekend work may be required for this role. What You'll Do:
- Record all bills in NetSuite.
- Record ACH, wire, and check payments received against invoices and otherwise.
- Record and reconcile credit card payments processed through Square, Stripe, and Swoogo.
- Work with Finance & Operations Manager on collections efforts.
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and classes for proper coding.
- Process posting of monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, deferred revenue, and bank and credit card accounts.
- Analyze and reconcile discrepancies and accounting issues, as identified.
- Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers for consistent bookkeeping and budgetary analysis.
- Work with Director of People & Culture to ensure compliance with state payroll requirements.
- Closely follow, and document financial processes adherence to, internal controls.
- Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies and guidelines.
- Collaborate with auditors and tax preparers to timely provide requested information.
- Assist CFO in preparation of annual budget.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies provided by technologies that leverage artificial intelligence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a nonprofit accounting role.
- Familiarity with NetSuite Accounting Software and Revenue Recognition add-on strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and non-profit best practices, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of people.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, confidence to question existing processes and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience coordinating audit activities.
- A track record in grant management as it relates to compliance and reporting.
- Ability to handle information confidentially.
- Effective communication, both in oral and written forms.
- Professional composure and the ability to perform in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
- Experience working in Salesforce.
