This senior-level position will lead the organization’s statewide program of impact-oriented litigation and legal advocacy. As Legal Director, you will select cases to lead putting you at the forefront of shaping the Kansas community.

ACLU-KS is seeking a creative, dynamic, visionary, and self-motivated team player to serves as its Legal Director to lead the growth of ACLU-KS’s legal department in advancing and shaping the civil rights and civil liberties landscape in Kansas. The Legal Director reports to the Executive Director, serves as a member of ACLU-KS’s leadership team working alongside them to ensure that integrative advocacy strategies are aligned in support of the organization’s long-term issue priorities.

You will work with a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team to design legal strategies and determine long-term policy goals. Thinking creatively about litigation strategies will be critical. You will also act as an external ambassador to ACLU-KS and work closely with the communications’ team to engage in public forums and media opportunities. ACLU-KS has grown dramatically over the past few years and is implementing an integrated approach to protect and advance civil rights and liberties for all Kansan’s including legal strategies, organizing, policy advocacy, electoral expertise, and strategic communications.

This position is full-time; salary for this position is based on experience. Hybrid schedule: in office two days a week; Wednesday is mandatory, and you choose your other day.
