College students or graduates with subject specialties in Nonprofit Management, Administration, Communication, or other Liberal Arts programs would be the most natural fit for this position.

JOB SUMMARY

The Advisory Organization Development Intern will help identify gaps in resources found on the AOHub and find resources for supporting Salvation Army advisory boards and will help collect contact information for advisory board leaders across the country and create a database for easy storage and retrieval of the information.

The Advisory Organization Development Intern reports to the NCRD Operations and Project Management Director (OPMD) and supports the OPM team as needed.

Advisory Organization Development Resources

• Review existing resources on the AOHub and compare them to criteria in the Standards of Excellence Operations. Identify gaps.

• Identify potential sources of additional resources to fill gaps.

•       Provide a recommendation to the OPMD regarding tools and organization to enhance volunteer boards' ability to achieve the Standards of Excellence.

• Collect leadership contact information from TSA advisory organizations and maintain database.

• Assist the OPMD and Senior Administrative Specialist Data Analyst with administrative tasks as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS

• An understanding of board leadership and management is helpful.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

• Some experience in databases.

• Good written and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to conduct online research.

• Bachelor’s degree or degree in process

• Able to provide references.

• Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.

9am – 4pm on any three weekdays (including Wednesdays) up to 25 hours per week for 8-10 weeks.

This is an in-person position at the NHQ location in Alexandria, VA.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or changes in weather.
