Summer Campaign Intern

Evolve California is seeking Summer interns to join our grassroots effort to fully-fund public education in California!

This position is ideal for students or recent graduates who want to gain professional experience in advocacy, grassroots organizing, lobbying, and campaigning. Interns will learn and engage with the fundamentals of ground up political work.

Our internship is a rare opportunity to receive direct mentorship in grassroots organizing. Our training philosophy is “learn by doing”, and we are committed to providing our interns with new and wide-ranging opportunities to collaborate with us, learn and grow. By offering comprehensive training and a nurturing environment, our interns are well-positioned to thrive during their time with us. We are proud to keep in touch with past interns, who frequently return to join us as volunteers. In fact, most of our employees, past and present, began as interns.

Internship Expectations:

• Help recruit supporters & volunteers.
• Create and post content on social media.
• Conduct research and data entry as needed.
• Learn how to effectively message complex policy proposals to the general public through writing blog posts and filming educational videos.
• Gain valuable professional experience working on a growing statewide campaign.
• Participate in frequent trainings on various organizing and leadership skills.

Intern Requirements:

• Located in the Bay Area and able to commute to our SF office twice weekly
• Junior standing or older (second year if community college student)
• Minimum commitment of 15 hours/week

Intern Qualifications:

• Passion for public education, social and economic justice
• Outgoing with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in grassroots organizing and digital organizing
• Desire to learn and openness to a challenge
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Internship Logistics:

Start date: Late May

End date: Mid August

Our office is located in San Francisco near Civic Center BART. We are currently a hybrid office, and will expect our interns to be able to work remotely and come into the office twice a week, if health and safety guidelines permit. Therefore, applicants MUST be in the Bay Area and able to commute to our office. Applicants must be fully vaccinated, boosted and able to wear a face mask in our office.

This internship is a paid position with competitive financial compensation for a grassroots non-profit. In addition we reimburse for transit costs associated with the internship, and provide lunch once a week when in the office. Upon program completion, interns may receive a letter of recommendation and professional reference for future opportunities. We will also gladly work with universities to offer course credit whenever possible.
