Job Summary: The Grants Manager is a liaison between the Braille Institute and its institutional funders. This person serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder relationships and produces reports. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Development, research, prepare, and submit institutional (corporate and foundation) LOI's, proposals for funding, and donor reports.
  • Track institutional giving against personal grant goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with 40 or more funders.
  • Follow all requirements and deadlines for grant applications.
  • Maintain internal grants calendar and ongoing updates in the Salesforce (NPSP) database.
  • Stay current on established organization and departmental goals, strategies, and budgets.

Knowledge and Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A four-year college degree is desirable. Strong knowledge of standard office computer software is required. Salesforce experience is required.

Experience: The position requires at least five (5) years of comparable nonprofit writing and grant management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be a strong writer and self-starter.
  • Ability to focus on several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of word, excel, and power point.
  • At least five (5) years of comparable writing or related work experience/grants experience.
  • Grant writing certificate (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to travel on occasion to conferences or other BIA offices.
  • Bilingual/Spanish is a plus.
