Description

The Public Interest Network

Membership & Engagement Coordinator

Denver, CO

The Member Engagement Coordinator oversees the schedule and strategy for keeping the citizen members of the groups in The Public Interest Network involved and engaged in our campaign work. Our citizen members are critical to our ability to win campaigns for the environment and the public interest. This position is key to helping us grow the connections that our members have to our organizations. You’ll ensure that we’re sending out regular affinity-building updates, that we’re contacting the right people at the right time, and finding ways to improve the contacts we have with our members. The more members who renew and deepen their support, the more power we have to bring about change for the environment and for the public interest.

Key Responsibilities

As Member Engagement Coordinator you will oversee our fundraising schedule and member engagement strategy, including:

  • Create and enhance affinity: Oversee ongoing member affinity updates like letters, newsletters, and emails to ensure they are well written and going out as scheduled.
  • Edit and write: Edit content of affinity material as needed and work towards drafting your own content.
  • Oversee the schedule: Maintain and improve the plan for how and when we interact with our members and donors, and review lists to ensure we are following that plan.

Qualifications

Entry-level candidates with a passion for our issues, mission, and values and a strong desire to build a better world with their life are encouraged to apply. To be effective in this role, you need to be goal-driven, detail-oriented and highly organized, with the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information.

A top candidate will have these qualities:

  • Driven by the missions of The Public Interest Network, Environment America, and PIRG.
  • Smart and detail-oriented: You can keep track of multiple plans, and are not afraid of using spreadsheets to better understand and organize the information you’re looking at.
  • Excellent writing skills: You can write clearly and compellingly, whether that’s to members to thank them for their donations or to your co-worker to ask them to send you the update you need.
  • You’re fired up about the idea of building a nonprofit organization behind the scenes, and have an appreciation of the importance of organizing and citizen members.

Compensation & Benefits

The target annual compensation for this position is $38,180. The Public Interest Network offers an excellent benefits package. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, paid time off, our commuter benefit program, a 401(k) plan with employer match, parental leave, long term disability insurance, and may include needs-based student loan assistance. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.

About The Public Interest Network

The Public Interest Network operates and supports more than a dozen organizations – including PIRG, Environment America and their state affiliates – committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to change.

Our work focuses on the problems that arise from America’s single-minded pursuit of endless economic growth: We’re still burning fossil fuels even though it’s changing the climate. We keep giving antibiotics to healthy livestock, even though it leads to “superbugs” that are antibiotic-resistant. We use plastic products for a few minutes only to throw them away so they pollute the oceans for centuries.

And our approach is unique: We focus on the big picture, but are relentlessly pragmatic and prioritize making a difference in people’s lives over making a statement. We work with everybody to make change happen, political ideology aside, championing good ideas wherever they come from. And we are serious about the work -- we set clear goals, benchmarks and systems to measure our progress, and hold ourselves accountable to making change now and building for the future.

This unique approach gives our staff an opportunity to make a concrete difference for the environment and the public interest — just as hundreds of dedicated staff have done over our 50 year history. If you want to add to this change-making legacy; if you have the passion and the drive that it takes; if you're looking for a mission, not just a job — then let’s talk.
