Description

Position Overview: The Director of Training is responsible for building the capacity of medical, mental health and social service providers in Los Angeles County and beyond to screen, refer and treat perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, meeting key impact and revenue targets for Maternal Mental Health NOW.  This is currently a remote job, however candidates must live within or close to Los Angeles, CA. FTE and salary are somewhat negotiable.


Reporting: The Director of Training reports to the Executive Director.  They will also work closely with the Development Director and Community Resource Manager.  They will supervise the Training Coordinator.


Essential Job Functions:

Curriculum Development & Delivery (50%)

  • Oversee the development of new and updated training curriculum on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and related topics for live and online trainings;
  • Facilitate interactive and engaging live, in-person and/or virtual trainings on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders for various audiences including medical, mental health and social service providers;
  • Provide coaching, consultation and other forms of quality improvement/technical assistance to individual providers and institutions seeking to improve their systems of perinatal mental health care;
  • Lead planning and implementation efforts for a conference on perinatal mental health every 12 months and annual series of webinars;
  • Oversee the award of Continuing Education Units for each of the online courses, conference and
  • individual trainings as applicable;
  • Oversee the development of and updates to the online Emotional Wellness Tool, Bringing Light to Motherhood Community Provider toolkit and other training materials;
  • Ensure successful completion of all training-related programmatic and contract deliverables;
  • Serve as Maternal Mental Health NOW’s clinical expert on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Networking & Relationship Building (30%)

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with private and public health care institutions serving the perinatal population;
  • Promote Maternal Mental Health NOW’s training program to health care institutions, social
  • service agencies and county departments throughout the county, state and country;
  • Support and execute revenue generating training contracts with health care institutions for
  • in-person and licensing of online training curriculum;
  • Chair committees related to special projects and initiatives;
  • Represent Maternal Mental Health NOW at networking events, conferences, etc.;
  • Serve as a press spokesperson for Maternal Mental Health NOW.

Strategic Planning & Program Development (10%)

  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning of the organization;
  • Contribute to annual organizational revenue projections and budgeting process;
  • Inform evaluation efforts and review and analyze results;
  • Other duties as assigned.

HR (10%)

  • Recruit, train and supervise a team of contracted trainers to facilitate in-person trainings, webinars and consultation groups;
  • Chair volunteer Training Committee;
  • Provide supervision and management of Training Coordinator.


Requirements: 

  • MSW, LMFT, PsyD, PhD, LPCC, RN or similar licensure;
  • PMH-C a plus;
  • Expertise in perinatal mental health;
  • Experience serving mental health needs of pregnant and postpartum people and their families;
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in social service management or administration;
  • Strong presentation, social/interpersonal and public speaking skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet software;
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general health information;
  • Ability to travel if needed.


Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to communicate with people/communities on many levels and interact with other personnel and organizations including funding agencies, academic institutions, community-based organizations, health care institutions, legislative officials, and other stakeholders, and the public at large. Public speaking and public presentation skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Financial and operational management skills to manage an organization with a budget.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate large scale trainings and education events.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the perinatal mental health sector, health equity and related work devoted to addressing mental health disparities.
