Description

The Director of Development is the driving force behind all fundraising efforts.  Responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program, the Director of Development plays a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization and the success of its programs and services. 

Responsibilities 

●      Actively collaborate with leadership to identify funding priorities and goals

●      Develop and implement a diverse, comprehensive fundraising plan with annual qualitative and quantitative objectives, quarterly benchmarks, and a strategic learning plan.

●      Prepare and monitor development budget, in collaboration with leadership and finance team

●      Design and manage fundraising and special events

●      Identify, cultivate, and steward new and existing donors of various levels

●      Identify opportunities to build strategic partnerships 

●      Build relationships and collaborate with sponsors, partners, and other stakeholders

●      Oversee online donation processes

●      Monitor and analyze fundraising data for effectiveness and efficiency

●      Collaborate closely with leadership, programs, communications, and finance teams

●      Work closely with, and prepare regular reports for, the Board of Directors and CEO to ensure fundraising strategy remains on track and recalibrate, as needed

●      Manage and lead a team of fundraising professionals, including but not limited to Communications Manager, Grant writer, and Event staff.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills 

●      Bachelor’s Degree in business, nonprofits management, or related field

●      A minimum of five (5) years of sales, business development, or similar experience 

●      Proficient with donor and sponsorship solicitation

●      Excellent computer skills

●      Proficient with MS Office applications and Raiser’s Edge

●      Proficient with social media platforms

●      Excellent understanding and application of fundraising best practices

●      Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written

●      Ability to work independently

●      Highly organized

●      Superb people skills

●      Available to travel, work weekends and evenings


Other Requirements

●      Provide Employment Eligibility Verification

●      Complete a background screen and drug test

●      Possess a valid California Driver’s License and evidence of insurance coverage

●    Provide annual evidence of tuberculosis test

●      Salary + Benefits: The salary range for the Director of Development is $100,00 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.  In addition, New Directors for Veterans offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
